Musical Director
Claudia Carawan has been Music Director at Unity Christ Church of Bon Air for several years and has been a professional musician most of her life. She is an international recording artist, a vocalist, an instrumentalist (piano and alto sax) and a songwriter. Claudia has recorded 2 CD’s of positive soulful music (Out of the Blue and Fearless), both of which have received rave reviews. Her powerful voice has been featured on radio and television and in national advertising campaigns.
Claudia received a B.A. in Applied Music at Virginia Commonwealth University and has studied Jazz at University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She also works as a music teacher at the Charterhouse School, which serves ‘at-risk’ students. There, she inspires students to discover and develop their creative abilities.

The music program at Unity Christ Church of Bon Air is a dynamic, creative force which supports and reflects the Unity principles using the language of music. The mission of our music program is to provide music that is spiritually enriching and inspiring. We feature a diverse variety of musical styles ranging from pop, inspirational, jazz, rock, new age and classical, but the overall format is contemporary. Weekly, our services feature professional performers from the surrounding community and sometimes internationally. Musically, we strive to match and enhance the minister or guest speaker's message and inspire our congregation with powerful music.

In April 2009 Claudia Carawan was approached by film students at Regent University in Virginia Beach. These students wanted to create an inspiring music video for Claudia’s song “More Than You Know” (from the Fearless CD). With a cast and crew of over 20 (including dancers, actors, makeup, special effects and camera crew) this video was created. View video: More Than You Know.
