As February begins, we focus on love. Our dear Susan G. will be inviting us to consider serving with love as a Prayer Chaplain (2/8). We have our Love In Action Fair Sunday (2/15) and Mary C. shares the opportunity to be a force of love with many others serving UCBA and beyond. We have the men showing love by hosting another Papa’s Spaghetti, followed by our talented members and friends singing their love in a Talent Show (2/20). And then, on Teddy Bear Sunday, (2/22) we bring in the bears to donate to our policemen, making love visible and comforting during traumatic situartions.
I am moved by our beautiful Buddhist monks’ great love and discipline by walking in our midst through ice, sleet and extreme cold. Their calm presence speaks volumes. We have been blessed by their message of, “Today is going to be my peaceful day.”
As we enjoy this month, may we combine mindfulness and love. We are the power and presence of love walking around with skin and bones. May we recognize what an amazing gift we have to offer in each moment.
Thich Nhat Hanh says, “The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers."
