We each can lift one another up in very simple ways – a thoughtful question, an "I love you" text, a wink, or a hug. A rare gift is to have someone really listen. It is so healing and a transformative blessing. To be present, to look into another’s eyes and treasure them by your attention, that is a great gift.
To speak our truth and to be truly heard brings confidence, joy, connection and love’s presence. We talk about holding space for another. This is one precious way to do that. Let us practice giving our full presence to the ones in our lives. It can be a brief encounter with a store clerk or a dear friend. I believe this was one of the ways that Jesus deeply impacted people – presence and compassion.
Of course, Lent is the perfect time to be present to ourselves – to the wisdom and divinity within our hearts. What one habit could you do, to give yourself this healing gift? Perhaps,
a prayerful moment that involves deep listening;
a time to journal after listening;
being in nature, listening to it speak;
have a cup of tea or coffee with Spirit;
wear a piece of jewelry that reminds you to stop, breathe and tune into the divine;
or set an hourly alarm on your phone to stop and be still for a moment.
May we be awake to the joy of listening to ourselves and one another. With a touch of intention, we are healed and connected to the One power so graciously. Blessings as you create time for this extra gift.
Much love,
Rev. Patty
