I Release Mortality

I Release Mortality

Our new Lenten devotional starts with the affirmation – I release mortality. We are reminded that we are both spiritual and physical beings. We are reminded that death is an entrance into a different way of being. It is why we feel both sadness and relief when a loved one who has been suffering lays down the body.

Recently, two families that we have known closely since high school have had deaths, one expected, one unexpected. Painful. Tears. Feelings of Loss. Shock. Everything seems different. We find our way amidst the grief. It is a process that honors the love we shared.

We are all in life’s flow, and change is the one constant. Maybe you have experienced a death of a person or pet, of a dream, of a relationship, or have moved out of a place you love, are dealing with a health issue or quit driving. This season is a great time to be present to the feelings and the truths we know as human/ divine beings. We feel our emotions and choose to come back to our center of love. It is not “either/or”, it is “both/and.”

Many of us were missing Rusty at Papa’s Spaghetti. A beautiful collage of pictures was created and is in the hallway. Take a moment to enjoy it before it is gifted to Laura.  We can feel his absence and remember how we love him. I invite us to tenderly release that which feels difficult in our own stories and take comfort in the One Presence and One Power that connects us all. Is there a part in you that needs tenderness? It is sacred work. It allows grace and peace to flow into our days.

Peace be with you,
Rev Patty ❤
