It’s Holy Week! We know that a lot was going on in the life of our Wayshower, Jesus the Christ. We have a lot going on. The American and world economy has been volatile. Our usual costs are going up – groceries, gas, etc. Our country is fractured by political lines. Our immigrants and the poor are on the edge with anxiety. Even those with resources are feeling uncertain.
These words from “The Week That Changed the World” by Ernest Wilson, about sharing their last meal, feel like balm to me. May they bless you as well.
In His (Jesus) divinely human nature he may have been saying
something like this: Beloved, I shall not be with you again in quite the
same way as we are together now, but whenever you eat and drink to
your body’s nourishment, remember me, and my spirit will be with you.
My love and wisdom will guide you in the troubling days that are before
you. Be of good courage. Be not afraid. As strength and energy fill
your limbs from food and drink, so shall courage and faith enter into
you from my nature within you. (Wilson)
May we always feast on the truth of our deepest identity – the love, joy and power of the Christ and be renewed. We are limitless and capable of new life in each moment. Happy Easter!
Peace and joy be with you,
Rev. Patty
