An Invitation To Make A Difference

An Invitation To Make A Difference

Every day is, of course, an opportunity to make a difference. Each moment we choose whether to come from Christ consciousness or from an egoic mindset. Each time we share love, we are impacting our world. In Unity, we know that our thoughts shape our vibrations and our actions.

We have a few opportunities for action this month. We are still welcoming contributions to our BIG Fall Festival on October 19th. You can contribute food and candy (signup sheets are in the main hallway) or help in person. Check out all the signup sheets and please call Carol Harris (804-405-3754) for more details.

You can join us at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (just down the street) on October 26th to pack meals to impact global hunger relief. All who want to help will leave right after the service to help at this event in support of Rise Against Hunger. All ages are welcome! There are jobs to be done sitting or standing and there’s no heavy lifting. Please sign up on the clipboard in the hallway, as they would like an idea of how many of us are coming. We will sign a release form when we get there, and the event is scheduled to end around 1:00 PM. Let’s share in this opportunity to help a third world country know compassion.

Also, you may help with the Down’s Syndrome of Virginia 9K and Family Festival on October 11th, at Dorey Park, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This will involve selling concessions for the festival under cover from the sun. Please contact Kathy Breece ASAP so she can give them your t-shirt size by October 3rd.

We read Scripture that says, “Love one another as I have loved you. If you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to me. Love your neighbor as yourself.” It is clear that our love is to extend beyond our immediate families, leaving no one out.

This is how I choose sanity in a world rocked by violence, assassinations, and shootings. I choose to be Love’s presence. There are endless ways to do this – a smile, a call, a card, a meal, a warm coat in winter. May we find ways to keep spreading the light amid the darkness of hatred. Find a way to shine your light. It is time for LOVE to rise and keep rising as we declare, “We are one.”

Much love,

Rev. Patty
