Celebrating 90 Years of Spiritual Wisdom and Compassion

Celebrating 90 Years of Spiritual Wisdom and Compassion

Knowing there is only One Presence and One Power, we join with world spiritual leaders to honor the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism.  He turned 90 on July 6, 2025.  He has taught compassion, mindfulness, and interfaith harmony around the world.

He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his nonviolent struggle for the liberation of Tibet, emphasizing dialogue over conflict.  He has met with world leaders, scientists (especially in neuroscience and consciousness studies), and interfaith groups, advocating for peace, human rights, and environmental stewardship.  He is a light shining brightly!

I share two of his quotes:

"We have a universal responsibility to change the course of history, to guide it in a more positive direction, a universal order that works for the welfare of the whole of humankind, and all sentient beings.  Such a civilization with a heart, a planetary society animated by the deepest values of the human family--selfless love; compassion; kindness; non-harming; sharing; and the elimination of poverty, homelessness, disease, hunger, domestic violence, and weapons of mass-destruction--can become an actuality even in our lifetimes if we are willing to work for it.  We have this responsibility, both individually and collectively, and this responsibility extends to the whole earth itself.  If we can envision it, then we have an alternative."

"One thing is for certain: given human beings' love of truth, justice, peace, and freedom, creating a more compassionate world is a genuine possibility."

May we bring forth these deep values that honor all people, all beings and our planet.  We have unlimited power in our divine identity.  We can birth a world of peace.  Together we can change the world as we tend to our own consciousness and engage in our communities and the world.  We are the answer to our prayers.

Much love,
Rev. Patty
