Connected, Resilient and at Peace

I’m up for an awakening in every heart and mind to move all of humanity to an awareness that we are one. Spirit has some work to do! I long to see the news showing us living as brothers and sisters. We are ever evolving, and we can take a lesson from nature that I joyfully discovered last week.

The giant sequoias are the largest trees by volume and height on Earth. The secret to their success is not their individual size, but their ability to thrive in an interconnected forest system, sharing resources and structural support through a wide, interwoven root network. This system enables them to survive events like fire, drought, and wind that would be deadly to other trees.

The tallest tree in the world has roots that only go 6-12 feet deep. These 300 foot trees have a root system that spreads 50-80 feet wide, and they interweave with every other sequoia around them. They share nutrients, water, and structural support. When storms come, they support each other. The forest is the system, not the individual tree.

Our church communities offer support to their members, yet we can enlarge our vision and create a path for each of us to embrace people across our country, and our world. I invite us to imagine systems that work together, heal together and grow together. Let’s spread our root system far and wide because every person is an expression of the one Love and one Light.

Sending love and peace,

Rev. Patty
